My mother saw me as her cub and she a mama lion no matter how old I got. It's a mother thing. I found what worked for me was to listen, asking if there was anything else she was concerned about {that was the hard part,}acknowledge her concern, repeating it so we both knew I had gotten it right, and then politely say what I believed to be the best course of action to take -- and since the lumps, if any, would be mine to ouch from, I proceeded to do it her way -- just kidding -- my way.
ReplyDeleteAs for your 6 year old son, from your height in years and experience, you can see farther than he in terms of consequences and wisdom. Saying no now will save your bitter tears of regret later. Just my thoughts given lovingly and with deep respect.

I notice you have a Marcia Willett book on your sidebar...I love her novels.
I think I have read them all, or had them on audio book. Do you also like Rosamunde Pilcher her books are similar.
