The Best of Oscar.

Busy Phillips and Jennifer Lawrence

Mila Kunis and Camila Alves

Celine Dion and Jennifer Hudson

What a great start to the week seeing the Oscars and rooting for our fave movies, not to mention the fashions. I have to be honest and say the gowns this year were slim pickings for best dressed. But here I have posted my fave picks, I hope you like them. See you lovelies later in the week with another blogger interview, office decor and of course some much needed inspiration.

Baked Eggs in Bread Bowls.

Aren't they cute?  They are very, very good.  It's the whole egg and the toast combo all together in one nice package. These are so easy to make you can do them half asleep ( I don't recommend that) and wouldn't they be splendid on a brunch buffet table?
The best part, you can easily make two, ten, a hundred,
whatever your needs are at the moment.
I think there are a lot of variations you could do nicely with this recipe, such as, swap out the Parmesan cheese with grated Gruyere or crumbled blue cheese to give a different taste.
Use feta and substitute oregano for the other herbs for a Greek flavor.

I used ordinary burger buns, but I think this would also be nice with sourdough, onion or brioche rolls as long as they are sturdy. Any way you put these together, they will be great.
This is looking very much like my weekend breakfast. I think I'll try this with mushrooms, cheddar and chopped tomatoes and onions with maple bacon on the side. YUM!!!!
What says you????

Slice off top of each dinner roll and gently remove some bread until
there is a hole large enough to accommodate an egg.

Arrange rolls on a baking sheet.  Reserve tops.
Crack an egg into each roll.

Top each egg with some herbs and a bit of cream.  Season with salt and pepper.
Sprinkle with Parmesan.  Bake in a 350 degree oven until eggs
are set and bread is toasted 20 to 25 minutes.
After eggs have cooked for 20 minutes, place bread tops on
baking sheet and bake until golden brown.
Let sit 5 minutes.

Place tops on rolls and serve warm.

Sprinkle with more Black Pepper and Parsley as needed. Eat with a knife and fork.

This recipe is compliments Cathy,  and after all that yoga from my previous post, this will be my treat for the weekend. By the way my hamstrings are killing me.
Much Love to everyone.

Balanced Beginnings: a Guide to Starting a Stress-Free Day.

Morning is always the most important part of the day. Who can argue with that?
Getting your day started right from the minute you wake up will guarantee
(at least to the largest extent of your control) that...
  • you will have plenty of time for all your tasks and “me” breaks
  • (remember about our 10-minute exercise breaks?),
  • stress won’t even dare get close to you,
  • you will have plenty of energy during the day and in general,
  • your day will be balanced and pleasant.
Let’s dive into the secrets of starting your day the right way.

 Prepare for an amazing morning

The most important part is to go to bed at reasonable time. How many hours of sleep do you need to feel well-rested? Each person is different and while some feel great after only 6 hours of sleep others will require 8-9 full hours of zzzzzz. I personally know that my body needs 8 hours of sleep and unless I get that much I feel tired and low on energy the next day.

Start Your Day with Proper Breakfast

It is often said that Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I can also add that Breakfast is the easiest-to-skip meal of the day.
We often miss out on breakfast because we do not have time to fix it, we are not hungry or we are trying to shed a few pounds. Unfortunately this eating habit makes you eat more during lunch and later that day, it also makes you crave high-energy (read: high in fat and refined carbs) foods.
It makes you moody and irritated.
In the morning our bodies are getting out of the night fast (just think about it, night is the longest period for starving our body!) By the afternoon glycogen supplies (molecules that work as primary energy sources for the body) start to deplete. By lunch you start feeling fatigued, you lose your focus and the ability to think fast and make decisions. Usually in this state you reach for a cup of coffee with a high-carb treat which makes your blood sugar levels shoot out of the roof only making you even more fatigued in an hour or so.

Exercise is an important routine that will help your body wake up and will energize you for the entire day. Morning runs or gym workouts might not be for everybody in the morning but thankfully there are other ways to exercise.
  • Start your day with a 10-15 minute gentle stretch.
  • Try a Yoga warm-up – Sun Salutation.
  • Go for a 15-20 minute walk if you have time.
  • Dance to your favorite song.
  • Do any other exercise that you like.
The most important thing about exercise is to do at least something. Choose one particular exercise or routine that you will do no matter what. If you woke up late or not feeling good do just 5 minutes of simple exercises. Examples:
  • Jumping jacks,
  • Crunches,
  • Pushups,
  • Squats,
  • Lunges,
  • Active stretches (do not start by lying down on the floor or you will slip back into the Dreamland immediately.)
You can set up a timer and try to get maximum amount of exercises into just 5 minutes. Modify exercises to suit your fitness level and goals.

 Create your morning routine

Routines might seem boring but they can be a great way to start your day when your brain is not completely running at full speed yet. Try to make your routine productive and creative and do not include things like watching TV or checking email in this routine. Your routine should eliminate all distractions and help your mind focus on work or important tasks of the day.
Make a habit to do at least one thing regularly every morning. It will be a sign to your body and brain to wake u and start the day. I start every morning with a big glass of water with juice of half a lemon. This drink energizes me better than coffee and gives me a good boost of vitamin C.

 Morning Don’ts

There are things that can make your day great and balanced and there are things that will steal your time and leave you in mid-morning frustration. Here is the list of things that you SHOULD NOT DO first thing in the morning if you want to start a great day:
  • Watch TV
  • Check your email
  • Read newspapers, watch news or use any other way of emerging yourself into the ocean of world problems
  • Surf the web
  • Worry about the problems of the previous day from the minute you open your eyes
  • Be a perfectionist (it’s okay if your bed is not perfectly made)
  • Start your day with an argument.

 Wake up your creativity

In the morning your brain is fresh and is ready to produce amazing ideas a
nd solve the most difficult tasks.
Try to set 20-30 minutes aside to write in your journal in the morning or start a personal blog.
You can
  • reflect on your life,
  • write down thoughts that popped up in your head when you woke up,
  • analyze situations that seemed stressful,
  • do a few creativity exercises that broaden your outlook and help you find solutions to different problems.
Journaling has a lot of health benefits, one of them being stress relief. Other proven benefits of journaling include improved cognitive function, stronger immune system, decreased symptoms of asthma, arthritis and other chronic conditions as well as more positive attitude towards life (positivity is one of the cornerstones of life balance.)

Devote time to your spiritual needs

Nourishing our body in the morning is important but taking care of our inner peace and feeding our spirituality is even more vital.
Start your day with a prayer: be thankful for what you have in life,
ask for wisdom and advice with your daily tasks.
If you are a Christian as I am read a few verses from the Bible and set aside
some time to talk to God.
If you are not a Christian then at least spend this time meditating.

Teal, Blue and Beyond.

BHLDN has finally unveiled its seductive assortment of wedding gowns, lingerie, dresses, shoes and accessories for the woman who want a not so traditional wedding. But an occasion with whimsy and a twist that's uniquely BHLDN. This midnight blue dress is a favorite of mine. Simply gorgeous.

So loving this Persian rug that is the point of reference in this lovely living room. The patterned pillows, antique bottle and wooden bowl of seashells add variety and texture.

Clearly this color is not for the faint of heart. Teal walls gives this room a wonderful cozy atmosphere, and that white fire place is just sublime.

Take care my lovelies. Thank you for stopping by.

Happy Love day to All. Hubby and I are making a night of it. The kids are at Gran mum and we have the night off. He also came by my office to take me out to brunch. I feel like a very lucky girl, still, after 14 years of marriage.

Sunday Dreaming in Bed.

Lying in bed would be an altogether perfect and supreme experience if only one had a colored pencil long enough to draw on the ceiling.

One of the secrets of a long and fruitful life is to forgive everybody everything every night before you go to bed.

Here's to One Year of Blogging.

Images: We Heart It.

I am very grateful to have had each and everyone of you my lovely friends, followers and visitors to my blog in the year that has passed. There has been so much I have learned this past year and I could not have done it without the encouragement of the many comments I have received.  I have made some mistakes and regretfully I have had to learn somethings the hard way.  Your graciousness has been evident in this regard as well.

Blogging has been a tremendous opportunity however, for me to meet some the most creative people, writers, crafters, artists, photographers, decorators and those who defy being defined.

Sadly I have witnessed the loss of some lovely bloggers this past year, whom we have lost to tragedy and some who have closed their blogs and said goodbye .
I will miss them and their voices very much.

I look forward to seeing more successful blogs becoming online magazines, newsletters etc, and attending of course, the many inspirational blogger conferences that are opportunities for us all to meet and mingle.

But I do hope "Lesapea Musings" will continue to be a source of joy and inspiration to many as my journey continues, and know that all this would be meaningless without my family and each of you.

Thank you!!!!
Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.  And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3: 16-17)
