Designer in Residence: Jessica Marx

As you know it takes a lot for me to do a double take. But I have been admiring Jessica Marx as an interior designer/editorial stylist and her Etsy shoppe, ever since her feature in the wonderful online mag Rue. Now this gal's   attention to detail is just phenomenal and not many people can do this well. Checkout  Rue's feature on her here as well as her lifestyle blog that I'm currently obsessing over called Life's Little Jems. One trend I'm looking forward to imitating is incorporating  small gold accents into my  home decor. Who knew little gold vases and sculptures could be so defining. (I'm loving the gold unicorn bookends in the first image of her computer desk).
I wish her all the very best and I look forward to seeing more her in the months to come. Be sure to checkout some of the projects she has worked on at her website at  J Marx Atelier

French Sole. Yellow suede sandals

Bottega Veneta sandals, $368,

Another weekend is upon us and I'm off to the beach with my family to enjoy some of the sunshine and sand between my toes.  There is nothing like relaxing and having a good book in tow. But with two kids both under seven, it's not like I'll get much reading done, who am I kidding. LOL.
Check out these summer sandal styles you might like, if you are on the hunt.  I particularly love the yellow suede ones from French Sole...Divine. What will you be up to this weekend my Lovelies???  Take care and be safe.

Mid-Summer Fare

Couscous Salad
Roasted Chicken with Oil-Cured Moroccan Olives and Pancetta

Pumpernickel Bread

Honeyed Pears in Puff Pastry

Lavender Infused Lemonade

Foods for mid-summer are typically fresh vegetables and fresh fruits that are in season, harvested herbs and edible flowers, summer squash and any yellow or orange colored foods. Honey, pumpernickel bread, barbecue fare, herbal teas, fruit juices, punches, natural sweet wines, ales and meads.

A fine Midsummer celebration for family and friends would first be to visit a farmer's market, local farm stands and gather fresh ingredients for your feast. It supports local farmers and leaves a kinder, gentler footprint. Plan your meal for outdoors with a summer tablesetting and enjoy the summer breezes, as the season seems to be slipping quickly away.

Monday's Inspiration: You are MY God.

Some of you might remember at the beginning of the year, I made the decision to start a gratitude journal.  Well one of the things I realized of recent, as my mind drifted back to my journal, was that it's incredibly challenging for me to be grateful when I'm facing trials or any sort of hardship in my life. It has been weeks...OK a month and a half since I've picked up my journal, actually I'm not entirely sure were it is at the moment. Why is that????? when there is so much to be thankful for even when times get bad.   Our Father in Heaven reminds us that... our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. I am encouraged and I hope you are too, that whatever you are facing at this very moment you are not alone and there is a higher purpose to all we face as daughters/sons of God.

Summery Hats.

This post inspires me to wear a big summery straw/canvas hat, and what better day of the week to do so than on a Sunday.  Whether it's to church, to brunch, a lawn party or a walk on the beach,  I think a hat will do the job just fine.

Happy Sunday to All. I hope you had a great weekend.

Beautiful bright orange fashion style is a color that always looks beautiful on anyone.  Style yourself with this bright orange color, and it will give the appearance of an energetic style and a dynamic fashion sense. Don’t be afraid ladies to experiment with this gorgeous color as summer is the perfect time to do it.
Do you currently have any orange in your closet???

I'm on the hunt myself for a few must-have orange pieces to add to my closet,  for summer parties and barbeques. Wish me luck.

Caribbean Summer.

If you are looking for a place to escape this summer and not really sure where to go, visit the island of Barbados. Barbados is an island country in the Lesser Antilles and is one of the Caribbean's leading tourist destinations and is the most developed island in the region.
I have a special place  in my heart for my island home. I hope that if you are considering visiting you will look me up while you are here. I know Monique recently came for her honeymoon and it was fabulous. So here are a few images of what you can expect on trip here.
Enjoy your summer everyone.

A Healthy Dose of Inspiration.

Hey, to everyone out there that has been eating healthier and exercising. Here is a great way to top up on your fruits and fibre. I found this here and yes; I have tried many variations of this smoothie for breakfast, lunch and dinner. So enjoy this dose of inspiration as we strive to take better care of our bodies and be more in tune with good nutrition.
