Mixed Media Oil + Collage

What do see as when you look at a painting? Pictures evoke memories, emotions and take us to a place that is all our very own. The work of Paula Rubinstein is no different with her bold, vibrant strokes that would brighten any day. Her paintings are like beams of sunshine and each reminds me of a happy place and time. I love to wake up to one of her pieces hanging in my breakfast nook, where the first ray of sunlight appears. I adore her Matisse-like approach to her compositions that are both whimsical and dreamy.
"Three Chairs"

For Rubinstein it's all about the color, the brushstrokes and texture.  Coming from a colorful life myself in more ways than one, I can relate to the bright tones of oranges, blues, reds and her whites. The Caribbean where I am from has the same vibrant life in it's culture, scenery and people and, so I am drawn automatically to her warm canvases. The below painting is entitled  " Yellow Vase on Blue Table". No…

happy friday and what I'm lovin

Happy Friday Everyone. Here I am posting about some of the things I'm loving at the moment and not in any particular order. So here's to a great weekend my lovelies.

Up first is this lovely nail polish by Burberry called Ink Blue, it's a little pricier than most, but totally worth it. I would say it's a great color for the Fall. What do you think?

summer's end with a white party

Hello my Lovelies, just got wind one of my Besties is planning a white party. What an amazing idea and I can't wait. So it got me thinking (what will I wear???) of compiling some great looks, for the party to  end this years summertime.  First up is this black and white number. I would love to step away from the frilly/romantic, to look this edgy with the right amount of femininity. (Can I wear black and white to an all white party though...Hmmph! or a hint of color??)

... this summery salad

Hello my Lovelies I hope you are all well and have enjoyed the weekend. I  am currently fighting off a chesty cold and cough, so lots of liquids and meds for me for the next few days till l can return to work.
But checkout this amazing salad I have been meaning to share with you,
before the summers end.
I am loving the trio of green onion, parsley and mint, along with succulent vegetables, the verdant color and the bold herbal taste this summery salad has. Inspired by traditional Middle Eastern tabbouleh, here protein-rich quinoa stands in for the traditional bulgur.

happy weekend and video love

Just when you thought you had seen it all when it comes to Victoria's Secret marketing strategies. Here their first ever shoppable video we see a Victoria's Secret Angel up close and personal. Apparently it takes more than an gorgeous sculpted body to be a VS Angel. Lily Aldridge is not only charming and endearing, but is most able to successfully prepare a meal in her underwear. She also takes to the camera like a natural and I find myself, liking her very much.   Shot by Guy Aroch, Lily hosts a dinner party for some French clients — and as you can imagine, the preparations don't go exactly as planned.

a few things I've learned about letting go

With my divorce a few months away, I realize in the last 20 months, how much I've had to get through mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Here are a few things that I believe has helped me as well as biblical truths.

Let Go Of Frustration with Yourself/Your Life

1. Change your perception—see the root cause as a blessing in disguise.

2. Channel your discontent into an immediate positive action—make some calls about new job opportunities, or walk to the community center to volunteer.

3. Engage in a physical activity. Exercise decreases stress hormones and increases endorphin's, chemicals that improve your state of mind.

4. Focus all your energy on something you can actually control instead of dwelling on things you can’t.
