 Mixed Media Oil + Collage

What do see as when you look at a painting? Pictures evoke memories, emotions and take us to a place that is all our very own. The work of Paula Rubinstein is no different with her bold, vibrant strokes that would brighten any day. Her paintings are like beams of sunshine and each reminds me of a happy place and time. I love to wake up to one of her pieces hanging in my breakfast nook, where the first ray of sunlight appears. I adore her Matisse-like approach to her compositions that are both whimsical and dreamy.

"Three Chairs"

For Rubinstein it's all about the color, the brushstrokes and texture.  Coming from a colorful life myself in more ways than one, I can relate to the bright tones of oranges, blues, reds and her whites. The Caribbean where I am from has the same vibrant life in it's culture, scenery and people and, so I am drawn automatically to her warm canvases. The below painting is entitled
" Yellow Vase on Blue Table". Now how cool is that?
